Style Tip: Graduation Outfit Guide

The storm is over *in my R. Kelly voice*! It's graduation season and as a past graduate I know the feeling of being a senior and preparing for graduation day. It's an exciting time for everyone and while you may feel like it is a relieving day, one thing you must keep in mind is how you are dressed for the occasion. Whether you'll be the student taking the walk across stage or a guest supporting someone who is graduating, you should always wish to look stylish.
Each year, many find it hard to achieve the perfect outfit for a graduation but it isn't as complicated as it seems. At this event you'll most likely be surrounded by dignitaries, administrators, professionals and families.. which is why it is important to dress appropriately. Stay away from the popular club fits and opt for the classy, preppy, chic attire.
Those apart of a graduating class usually believe that their outfits aren't major factors because their basically covered the entire time with the famous gown. However, what happens after graduation? Dinners, after parties.... you might not have time to change, so it's best to think smart.
Even if you don't have post-grad plans, at least put every effort in your shoe choice!!! Considering that the compulsory gown is mid-length, your shoes become a focus. Select a statement pair that will be absolutely fabulous and ensure that you can comfortably walk in them. You don't want this happening.

From my fashionable perspective, a lady attending a graduation as a honoree or as a guest should style in a short/midi dress, a jumpsuit or an ornate top paired with a simple bottom (vice versa). A long frock or skirt is not recommended for the graduate because it can definitely clash with your robe. Remember those few points and you are good to go.

A ceremony can be held outdoors or indoors. Additionally considering the spring/summer season it normally takes place, I created a few looks to assist anyone with their outfits:

THE GUEST:

Take your fashion seriously at the event... it's a momentous occasion. Looking back as a graduate, you'll not only be proud of yourself for completing school but you'll also feel content that you did it in style. As a guest, you'll not only be proud of the person that your supported but you'll also be happy that you did it in style.

To make your graduation day even more fashion filled, take on the trend of customizing your cap with an epic design!

Send me a few photos or tag me for a blog feature of your stylish upcoming grad fit... I'm ecstatic to see!
