Fashion Review: The Oscars 2016
2:50:00 PM
Intrepid colors, rich embellishments, and tasteful designs dominated the red carpet on Sunday at the Academy Awards. You probably thought I wouldn't review this one considering the whole "boycott movement" but here I am to give you the fashion run down. Aside from Stacey Dash's awkward moment, The Oscars seemed to be a hot event this year. I don't know what shocked me the most, Chris Rock's "power to the people" jokes he threw in whiles hosting, Leonardo Dicaprio's first Oscar award win, or Whoopi Goldberg's dramatic evolution. Let's give it up for Whoopi, seriously. This was the first time I've seen her in a gown since she wore robes in Sister Act. One thing I wasn't surprised about was the fascinating style. Being that this is indeed a huge award show, stars were dressing impeccably from pre-parties to after-parties. Although the Oscars is a major disappointment nomination wise, the fashion is always superb. Here are all my favorite looks this go around:
Pre-Parties
Leading up to the Oscars celebrities attended elaborate celebrations. Some prominent outfits were seen at the Weinstein Company's dinner, the OK! Magazine party and the Women In Film bash.
The Weinstien Company affair was exclusive and so was the style. Lady Gaga's black and white ensemble along with Chrissy Teigen's look basically gave us a hint of actual Academy Awards fashion.
These few ladies were also favorable at the OK! magazine and Women In Film festivities. Lala Anthony in particular, impressed me wearing a black turtleneck jumpsuit.
THE MAIN EVENT
Charlize Theron aced her first award show of the year by appearing in a trailing red Dior piece.
Adding drama to the carpet, Lady Gaga stunned in a pure white structured jumpsuit designed with a waist cape.
Margot Robbie looked like a total bombshell in this gold sequinned number.
Olivia Munn couldn't help but grasp eyes wearing an off the shoulder dress which had a vivid orange hue.
Priyanka Chopra graced the carpet in a beautiful sheer white garment created with lacy embroidery.
Singer Andra Day rocked a fresh spring color! The side split of this yellow confection made her look majestic.
Smoldering in black, Liz Hernandez was bearing custom Michael Costello.
Snagging the best dressed couple crown once again, Chrissy Teigen was seen in a decorative Marchesa frock while John Legend bedecked Paul Smith.
Rachel McAdams was draped in a fine silky dark green item. The effortless smock had a halter neckline and high front slit...
With this alluring blue shade, Patricia Arquette portrayed natural elegance. The details of the bodice of her dress was distinct and striking.
Stephanie Bauer worked it in an unusual color, teal!
Jennifer Garner posed in a black gown that was perfect for her... Like a work of art.
Smashing as always, Maria Menounos sparkled in a glitzy silver design.
Zuri Hall looked charming in a sweetheart cut garment possessing deep pleats at the bottom.
Another to suggest the upcoming season, Louise Roe glowed in a resplendent soft coral shade.
Dripping in dark green and sequins as well was Saoirse Ronan.
Daisy Ridley opted for classic Chanel... stealing the spotlight in a mid-length frock.
White became the new black at the show.... These women did the plain color justice.
Leo may have won for his performances but these gents won with style!
The After Parties
I've never seen such immaculate fashion for a viewing party but this happens annually around Oscars time. Hollywood beauties from Sarah Hyland to Kelly Rowland in Laquan Smith, Hailey Baldwin and more, showed out at the Aid's Foundation after party/watch party hosted by Elton John!
Style sightings at the grand Vanity Fair after party was so good, it had to get a post of its own.
