Fashion Review: BET Awards 2015
8:33:00 PM
Last night the BET awards took place, and I always find it exciting when those in Black entertainment come together.... It was definitely timely considering the struggle blacks are still facing today. It is certainly one of my favorite awards to watch, kicking off the summer award shows, however I must admit that I rarely expect to see jaw dropping fashion moments on the the red carpet, as opposed to the Golden Globes or the Grammys.
Surprisingly, I was very pleased with the style some celebs showed off through out the night. Some dressed elegantly, some dressed casually, and some even dressed alike. Here are my favorite looks from the 2015 BET awards:
Sevyn Streeter rocked a popping pink cut-out ensemble which fitted her like a glove. With a few accessories, there is literally nothing I would have changed about her look!
Her beauty is striking but this dress on Gabrielle Union is even better. Out of the many that wore black, she claimed her position at the top of the list in this shiny maxi.
Besides the fact that I wish Zendaya would stop experimenting with her hair, I can't deny how perfect she is. She wore this short, see through, sparkly tunic, (with a bodysuit underneath, ofcourse... she mentioned) and kept it cute in a pair of high platforms.
Actress Laverne Cox served me jumpsuit realness in this navy piece. Honestly, without the plunging and revealing cut at the top, this outfit would have been off. She really did it in this & the black trimming on the sides complemented her spiky leather pumps very well.
Following the pant suit trend was Karrueche Tran. I actually loved the print on this Michael Costello two piece and the quirky bralet underneath enhances it even more. I'm not a huge fan of the new hair color on her but she looked fashionable, as usual.
She mastered her performance but also mastered this sleek look! Ciara arrived in an edgy dress designed by Wes Gordon with a high slit, deep v-cut neckline, and dazzling embellishments.
Dark tones were constantly displayed on the carpet and Brandy added to the factor. I loved this black and grey skater dress on her and the way she wore daring hot pink pumps on her feet made me appreciate this look even more.
Although it felt like I've seen her in this before, Rihanna looked simply amazing in bronze.
Nicki Minaj wore a unique Muglar dress and the top caught my eye the entire evening. Although she did not arrive in this, I thought this look topped the dress she came in. I can always depend on someone to slay in black and white.... Nicki accomplished it.
Both Lala Anthony and Yara Shahidi's outfits exhibited tropical prints, while Essence Atkins' dress was brightly colored. Each of them brought the summer flavour I wanted to see, considering the hot season.
TWINNING! Matching in white seemed to be the fashion direction of the night. Laverne Cox, Gabrielle Union, Amber Rose, and Blac Chyna all received the memo and actually looked fabulous.
Not too many men enticed my stylish desires on the carpet yesterday but these are the few that did.
As I mentioned above, many opted for black attire and these are the stylish ladies apart of the list.
The next go-to classic color, white, looked exemplary on these stars.
I enjoyed the looks on the carpet, all night, and I must say I was very impressed.
