Fashion Review: Video Music Awards 2016

Days later and I'm still melting over the cutest Aubrih moment during the final minutes of this year's Video Music Awards. Drake confessing his love and admiration for the lady of the night, Rihanna was definitely a memory I'd never forget but the great fashion flaunted by attendees was unforgettable as well. A mixture of funky and elegant pieces swept the carpet, while some also opted for popular wide leg trousers. Additionally, the action-packed evening called for outstanding looks from style icon Bad Gal Riri herself, which kept me on my toes the entire time. Here are all of my favorites:

Nicki Minaj had absolutely no flaws in a skin tight cutout navy ensemble designed by Bao Tranchi.

Ariana Grande wore an evolving fit pairing high-waisted bottoms with a matching lacy off the shoulder cropped top.

Kim Kardashian appeared in sultry black number. I got a clear idea of the look she was going for once completed by her dewy makeup and wet hair. Her hubby Kanye West casually but fashionably hugged her side opposing in all-white.

Singer Cassie looked beautiful and sexy in a perfectly tailored grey blazer made with gilt buttons that corresponded with her gold metallic pants. The neon hair added a spark to the clean outfit.

Model Naomi Campbell graced the show in a muted green frock and sparkly pumps.

Joan Smalls rocked long slacks and a tough leather bandeau top with cross-cross halter straps.

Fun vibes were given off by the gorgeous Justine Skye who came in a quirky fringe covered Missoni piece.

Who said you couldn't be bold in white? Holland Roden brought it in a savvy cape suit. She created a master look in the refreshing hue.

No wonder Hailee Steinfeld's new single 'Starving' is a hit. Her outfit at the event was surely closet craving.

Also scoring major points in prints and heavy fringe was Alicia Quarles.

Tinashe drew attention in a sensational vintage-inspired silky red confection.

Never doubt the impact of black! These stars killed it.

Round of applause for the fashion-forward males who made an entrance and made it worth talking about.

Work work work work........Vanguard winner of the night, Rihanna performed four times dripping four very distinctive, fascinating, and self expressive outfits. From sporty wear to a reggae chic look, and even saving a formal dramatic gown for last, only she can switch up her aesthetic at any given time and have everyone completely amazed.

There wasn't a red carpet at the show but the colour did not take away from the purpose. The garb spotted at Video Music Awards for 2016 did not let me down at all.

Fashion Review: BET Awards 2016

The BET Awards this year seemed to be a celebration for the late legend, Prince. While I enjoyed soulful performances that paid tribute to such an icon, something felt different about the event. Maybe not enough celebrities showed up? Considering it's usually like a reunion for Hollywood black folks, I was slightly disappointed. Thank God for Beyonce's quick surprise appearance. Out of the small amount of guests that walked the carpet at the summer-time award show , a list of them had pretty stylish looks. Here are my favorites:

Zuri Hall wore chic separates baring lots of skin!

Actress Tia Mowry-Hardrict posed in a mini Robert Cavalli frock along side her husband Cory who rocked a suave tux.

In a showstopping hue, singer Mya played no games.

Donning her classic monochromatic combo, Janelle Monae opted for a shimmery pant suit.

Yara Shahidi glistened in the spotlight as well.... This time in a colourful number.

Hot on the scene! Megan Good somehow fired up the carpet wearing green!

Latoya Luckett followed suit in a similarly tasteful floor length gown.

What a summer event without the jumpsuit? Host Rocsi Diaz slayed the trend in an embroidered piece.

Taraji P. Henson fashionably accepted an award for the night dressed in a beautiful Steven Khalil design.

Eva Marcille arrived in a playful short shift by Yaz Couture pairing it with laced up Aquazurra platform sandal heels.

Karrueche Tran went the edgy route in a figure hugging black dress crafted with gold buttons which complemented her gold accessories.

Coupled up in perfect outfits! Tank and Zena Foster looked cool for the summer in white garments.

Athough I wouldn't pick this spectacular selection for the BET Awards, I can't deny how stunning Nandi Mngoma looked in it.

Beyonce did not show out on the carpet, but her team did. These ladies were all in formation styled in vintage looks.

Black and white.... or even something close! These beauties mastered it!

Host Terrence J. raised the bar high for the men with three dapper suit changes.

These additional males didn't shy away from fashion either.....

Talk about performance-wear! Jennifer Hudson sang the famous hit "Purple Rain" in a hooded white blazer dress.... Usher pumped up the crowd in a politically motivated top stating "Don't Trump America" which I totally approved of and Queen Bey did it for me in a lovely embellished bodysuit.

I expected to gush over the BET awards a bit more but somehow I couldn't.... All in all, I just HAD to cover this event.... especially for the culture.

Style Story: Game Over

The sound of the game buzzer and thousands of fans cheering synchronised loudly as I walked into the Quicken Loans arena but it did not permit me from hearing "I love your outfit" from a few onlookers while I made my way to my court side seat. I'm Harriet... Many know me to be the wife of the star player on the Cleveland Cavaliers. I respect the recognition but I'm also my husband's biggest fan... or good luck charm as he always says.

Living in peaceful Ohio is something slightly different from me being the girl who grew up in Compton but I believe I brought a new flavor to the area with my personality and most of all, my style which is described as chic and classic.

It is actually inevitable for me to miss a home game during the season. Considering the fact that it occurs regularly, I try my best to be consistent with my fashion sense. I like to be my own stylist. It's not hard for me at all. I always had an eye for fashion so I'm able to style myself as well as my husband for press conferences and appearances.

It is now the finals and as excited as I am to watch my husband and his teammates play their best to snag the championship title in seven games, I'm also excited about what I'll be wearing.
I usually break all of the rules when I'm dressing for games. I may be a super fan but surprisingly, team color coordination is no where near my styling agenda.
Tonight is the night it all begins.

Dressed in a plush red hot mid length sleeveless blazer dress, a pair of purple lace-up sandal heels adorned with matching red details, and a structured nude Mahon Fichero handbag, I sat and my husband gave a kiss on my forehead... a game time ritual. I also cannot forget to mention my jewellery which includes rose gold stone drop earrings designed by Kendra Scott, my arm cuff with twisted inserts, a classic Guess watch, and a 14-carat diamond encrusted screw-bar ring. This first home match-up of the finals was something serious. The tremendous energy from the crowd truly helped the Cavs win this kick off game, and I'm of course extremely ecstatic that we are one up!

On to the following game and my husband along with his teammates are prepared to have a 2-0 advantage before hitting the road. However, unfortunately we did not have the same outcome as the last time. Losing hurts but as fans, we understand game 2 is just the beginning.

Although the team didn't win, I scored outfit wise wearing an edgy black leather cropped bandeau top styled with stone gold frame diamond shape earrings and a grey jersey knit pencil skirt designed with a quirky front-tie attachment. For outerwear, I layered with a Balmain two-textured wool and gabardine hooded drawstring jacket and for my feet, I rocked Saint Laurent ankle strap chain and leather sandal heels. With a vibrant colored yellow calfskin Celine tote in hand, my wrist sparked with a YSL double wrap bracelet.

Finals season is normally the only time I travel on the road with my husband.... This means, I always pack efficiently with lots of options to determine out of town game looks.
This evening in Golden State, is no different from any other.

I'm keeping it groovy pairing a long sleeve multi colored windowpane print top with a pastel pink PVC midi skirt and red strappy ankle cuff sandal heels crafted with gold buckle details. A set of delicate gold orbit earrings, an ivory shaded Tory Burch cross body wallet, gold cat-eye frames trimming round violet lenses and a tripled band gold ring does the job as accessories.

As proud as I am of my outfit, here I am in the end feeling really disappointed. Again, the Cavs failed to succeed and at this point the opposing team leads the series.

As if realising my husband and his team would have to play them again on their home court wasn't scary already, this lost makes it worst. Away games are always difficult but I'm hoping they atleast tie it all next time before we all return to Ohio.

Game 4 ready! In a sea full of Warrior fans sporting yellow and royal blue, I opted for white. My moto white high waist skinny jeans corresponds with a white bandage bralet. Its deep-neckline is the ideal feature for my vintage black and gold multi-strand Chanel neck piece. For a little warmth and added style, I also threw my distressed denim lapel collar coat in the mix. Taking a break from heels, I have on comfy nude and black Chanel espadrilles. In my ears are custom black stud earrings and I'm carrying a black Celine leather handbag.

Another night, another blow.... Definitely not concerning my attire but I meant the game. Three straight losses? I'm here thinking there's no way the Cavaliers can come back from this. The Warriors only need to take one more game and this is all over. I feel defeated but my husband being the leader that he is, has some sort of unbelievable faith. With this mindset heading back to the Q, the only possibility would be for the team to revive dramatically.

Nervous for this fifth game but happy to be back home, I got geared up in a tasteful spilt hem suede bodycon dress, a smart dark green blazer with gold buttons, and a pair of heels braided with nude yarn and embroidered with pearls. My ablaze orange faux suede clutch lit up the look and I added finishing touches with button earrings made by moonstone inspired beads on a glided fan-tire structure, a Colin Cowie bracelet sparkly princess diamonds and a rose gold ring centred with black and white diamond leaves.

A win! It's a been a while since hearing the phrase. I knew the team would come back stronger under so much pressure, and they did. "It's not over until I say it is" my husband shouted in excitement. I'm starting the believe my outfit sent some positive vibes.

We are on our way back to the Oracle for the following game and as much as I hate to be on the road again, I have some sort of motivation in me. Why not try for another charming look?

An oatmeal colored ribbed knit long sleeve mini dress with its asymmetrical slit appears to be the trick. I'm also garbed in a Chanel quilted lambskin flap bag, a gold Olivia Burton watch with a black face, a set of retro rhinestone rings and black double sided faux fur pom pom earrings, each with a chunky pearl. On my feet are black and nude gradient pointed toe 'So Kate' pumps.

Another one! Finally they've been able to catch an away game win... especially the one they most desperately needed. Game 7's can be a ball player's dream and this year, my husband those made it. I'm so glad they've gotten this far!

The final game is tonight.... This match up here in Cleveland means All Or Nothing! I guess that suggests I should consider the same theme with my look.

I pulled an elegant black BCBG Max Axaria cape romper and some eye catching fuchsia pink DSquared2 strap up heels plastered with metallic barbed wire accents. There was only a need for my gold plated slip on bracelet, square stud earrings, and the Saint Laurent monogram clutch to wind up everything.

Two minutes left on the clock and I'm holding my head in anxiety. We could be champions by the buzzer or we could walk away defeated. Just as thought about it all, my husband aims for his clutch 3-point throw and nails it in! It's over! THEY DID IT!

"We are the championsssssss" played in the background as we all gathered on the court joyfully. This series was so hard fought and I'm beyond elated! It felt like a roller coaster but now it's all done. Named the 2016 NBA champions wasn't the only achievement, my husband additionally received the Most Valuable Player award.

He keeps telling me he's aiming for a repeat next season, and although I'm thinking about the happy feeling again, I'm also thinking about my revolutionary looks for next time.
