Fashion Review: CFDA Awards 2016
11:20:00 AM
A night where designers are praised and spectators are amazed by the ensembles that grazed the red carpet describes last Monday night when this year's Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards occurred. Notable names like Thom Brown and Brandon Maxwell won their respected categories while stars like Beyonce... yes, Queen Bey was honoured for the dues she has paid in the fashion industry. Aside from what went down during the event, arrivals were a huge focus. Pieces made by designers at the awards and even those who unfortunately couldn't make an appearance were seen on attendees. Black and red were hot numbers for the evening but ofcourse, there were those who shied away from the colour trends. Here's who all secured a spot on my list of favorite looks:
Ciara made her rounds in an unconventional Robert Cavalli garment and still managed to show off that famous sexy leg.
Model Daniela Lopez dripped metallic in a clean slip gown with minimal accessories.
Jasmine Tookes strutted in a sequinned covered black shift completing her outfit with glossy black pointed toe pumps and a gold clutch.
Julianne Hough showed off in a lovely embellished Michael Kors dress... looking exclusive!
Martha Hunt rocked a lacy bright blue playsuit designed by Diane Von Furstenberg.
Rosie Huntington-Whitley remained in her element wearing a sparkly silver dress that fitted her perfectly! The pleats at the bottom portion and the criss-cross straps at the back made me fall in love.
Actress Samira Wiley opted for prints! Her flare midi green and black frock was surely unique.
Honoree Beyonce Knowles graced the function in a classic fit that seemed curated to steal the show. The Givenchy sequinned pinstripe pant suit gave me the utmost life and she topped it off with an usually seen on carpets wide brim hat.
Also pulling off a pantsuit, Miroslava Duma selected navy for the night.
Olivia Culpo's look included all black... A sharp blazer, zipper clutch, feathery mini skirt and strappy pumps were all she needed to master it!
Naomi Campbell was certainly enviable showcasing a black cut out gown from Brandron Maxwell's latest collection.
Spotted was also Lauren Conrad! Hadn't seen this doll in a while. She kept it simple and amazing as usual.
Jourdan Dunn wore the ultimate sheer piece!
Jessica Hart evoked a romantic mood in this pearly chic silk set.
Shanina Shaik played it up in a distinctive orange hue.
Lauren Santo Domingo gave off major theatrical vibes in Proenza Schouler.
Jessica Chastain had no flaws in her glamour filled printed asymmetric ensemble.
Lala Anthony came to the show styled casually and fashionably.
This darling, Sara Sampaio was all smiles wearing a black mid-length sheath trimmed with lace.
Riley Keough wore black and white and popped it with bold lips.
For some reason, a group of ladies arrived in the same shade of red. Check out these stylish starlets in scarlet!
Black, normally the most favoured colour, found its way on these gems.
An awards for fashion definitely called for all of these modish sightings!
