As Seen on Magazine Street

If you've been keeping up with my blog lately, it's public knowledge by now that I took a Thanksgiving trip back in November. I spent much needed time with my family, did major shopping and enjoyed the beautiful city of New Orleans.

Before traveling, I made myself very aware of the the New Orleans forecast around that time. I must admit, I packed as if I was going to Florida considering the fact that weather.com stated it would be fairly warm. Once I arrived, I had the shock of my life. I was seriously freezing my socks off the minute we pulled up to our hotel and I felt so betrayed by life itself. I made up in my mind that I wanted to return home in an instant because I knew that I would not have any fun at all. I brought along absolutely NOTHING that was suitable for the Antarctica-like temperature and I'm usually super cranky when I'm cold.

Despite it being chilly outdoors, my family insisted that we go sightseeing and make the best of our trip. Luckily, on the first day I had ONE coat in my suitcase... I obviously made very good use of it.
I dressed in the fluffy pastel pink number that layered a soft silk black blouse which is designed with a colorful floral print collar. With my favourite pair of blue high waist skinnies, I opted to stroll in short chunky black strappy heels for the day as well. My black versatile cross-body envelope purse matched so I couldn't have been happier.

We had brunch then did some urgent shopping. The greatest thing about where we stayed is that literally every store was walking distance. From a huge mall to Nine West and even Saks Fifth Avenue!

It was certainly a shopping haven and I couldn't get enough. I bought so much warm clothing, it could last me for a month. I wanted to be set for the remainder of my trip so I shopped smartly. I found a trench wool coat for $12 in Forever 21... What a steal! I also got a biker leather jacket, scarves and even fuzzy gloves. The only thing that I was unable to find was boots in my size.... That was until the temperature dropped lower a few days later and we had already planned to go horse riding in the French Quarter.

That is when I made it a necessity to get a pair of boots before we did anything. I transformed into a fashion bounty hunter immediately and my first stop was an H&M situated two blocks away from my hotel. Fortunately, I found a pair there that was actually on my wishlist. I felt like I had found gold. I was near tears of joys and I even got jeans to go along. I decided to change into everything right in the fitting room. All prepared for the day as I wished to be, my final look comprised of the white cozy wool trench coat with a vibrant floral halter crop underneath. Accessories included gold stacking midi rings and a pair of vintage gold flip-up round eye sunnies. Again, I rocked black skinny jeans and rosy maroon shaded suede platform booties both from H&M.

Horse riding was pretty cool! We scoped the town and learned of horrific cemetery stories which are historically common in Louisiana. For some reason, I had a heartfelt connection with our gorgeous stallion in particular. Her name was Blanche. The fact that she was dressed with this DIY inspired flower crown made me extremely fascinated. Stylishly Blanche is what I called her during our excursion.

Bourbon Street was a wild experience, as expected. Dynamic dancers, live bands, and magicians were all in my peripheral view as I walked the crowded pavements. I went for a more bummy/lazy fit during my time on the popular roadway.  A chiffon black maxi dress, bomber jacket, with a pair white chucks made me feel complete. Mardi-Gras beads were just the appropriate accessories for the night, of course.

Truth be told, my favourite adventure on this trip was visiting Magazine Street. It's known to be one of Louisiana's fashion districts and I had an amazing time stopping by a few of the fun luxury boutiques out of the hundreds.

The most interesting stop was at a shoe store. I forgot to take the name of the shop down but they had so many exquisite pieces to choose from. From vintage to modern designer footwear, I was infatuated. Each was unique and quirky in their own way and I could not help but take a few photos of my favourites.

On Thanksgiving Day, I went to Tampa to visit other family members and I was most ecstatic to see an ounce of sunlight! In my mind all I kept thinking was "Finally I can wear the clothing that I packed initially..."
For the holiday, I wore a black floppy hat, the leather biker jacket embellished with zippers, and   a burgundy jersey knit mini dress which was ideal considering all the food I chose to munch down. On my feet were comfy all white converse sneakers and I loved every bit of my outfit.

Honestly, after Thanksgiving, I dressed like a soccer mom to catch all of the door busting sales. I was focused less on my look and more on what I wanted to buy.

The last day of my trip, however, we went to a gigantic outlet complex in Tampa and I kept it a bit more stylish for this final shopping journey. With a pair of basic distressed boyfriend jeans, I wore a cropped grey low side cut tee... The aztec print black and white bra-let underneath the top was just a added piece to eliminate revealing too much and I had on a gold tasselled drop necklace to complement its high neck rise. I guessing matching was out of the question for this look but my light brown ankle cuffed sandals, pastel pink mini handbag, and tortoise print cat eye frames all came together well.

Shopping was a blast... especially with my family. I even got my grandmother a pair of funky sunnies and we were twinning the entire day.

There's nothing more I could possibly say about this trip other than, it was one of the best. I cannot wait for another travelling experience to share with you guys... I'm thinking Paris or Hawaii next...
