My Thoughts: H&M x Balmain

Out of all brand collaborations, I have been most excited about this one. H&M is one of my top three favorite stores to shop at and Balmain is one of my favorite fashion houses. Each season I am always anxious to see what they both have to offer and this is honestly the best thing that could have happened THIS season. I see a lot of people complaining about how this will only make H&M mainstream, but who the heck cares? Currently working in retail, I understand how essential it is to market your brand and this is literally the smartest marketing scheme. Both the high end and reasonable audience will be buying and guess who wins? H&M! The fact that everything was sold out minutes after the release is living proof.
While I do agree that Balmain will now be considered less exclusive, you should not feel "basic" after wearing an item from the collection. Once you can pull it off, it does not even matter where you got it or how much you paid.
If you were once buying Balmain for thousands of dollars, good for you. Now you can get some pieces reasonably. Who doesn't enjoy shopping on a budget? I mean, I do.. and I am almost positive I will see Kim K (the queen of Balmain) sporting one or two garments very soon. A fusion of urban and designer pieces is an ordinary shoppers dream... At least a shopper like me! Personally, I am not too caught up on brands. I actually look at this mainly as an H&M collection with Balmain's sticker, to be fully truthful... and guess who isn't afraid to rock H&M?! Me! Once the look is something that I like, I'm getting it. It does not matter to me whether it's a special luxury Oliver Rousteing design or something that's sold in the popular store, I'll get it. Based on what I can already see, the designs of the items apart of the collection are actually perfection. Therefore, I cannot wait for my next H&M visit to buy a few things myself. I'll be adding stuff to my wishlist in advance and of course, I'll do a haul once I purchase.
