Fashion Review: Golden Globes 2016

10:06:00 AM

Additionally kicking off the award period is the Golden Globes. Every time this elite presentation comes around, I get so excited. Hands down, the best fashion is shown at this awards so its only right that its one of the first each year.
Los Angeles became Golden Globes city last weekend... From pre parties to the main event and even after parties, everyone stepped out and showed out. I like to believe celebrities and their stylists save their finest looks for this weekend. Forget the common phrase "Save the best for last"... Save the best for first is the actual red carpet motto.
With Hollywood being consumed with so many things going on for the past few days, I tried my best to keep up. The fashion was my main concern of course and many designers got to showcase their seasonal pieces on numerous red carpets. Here are my favorite looks starting with the pre-parties:

Pre-Parties
Pre-Golden Globes festivities included the W Magazine Party, The Art of Elysium Heaven Gala, the It Girl Brunch and more!

This W Magazine party was more like a black out. These ladies were the selected few that wore outfits which caught my eye. Seriously obsessed with the floral pant suit Michelle Monaghan opted for in particular..

Every year this gala is superb! I'm talking one of the best well-attended annual pre parties to date. With a mixture of looks, elegant and smart casual its impossible to put this celebration into one style category. Many of the attendees this year showed off major skin and scored!

Models and starlets dressed up for the chic It Girl brunch and pretty much justified the title of the event.

These are a few others that stood out to me as well. I'm definitely crowing Christina Milian best dressed for the pre parties. The ensemble she wore at the BAFTA tea party is a total
master piece.

THE MAIN EVENT

Last year Ralph Lauren gave me a reason to scream when Taylor Schilling showed up in that beautiful red design and this year is no different. Kate Winslet looked exceptionally amazing in navy.

2015 was definitely her year... Career wise and style wise.... and she did not lose it at all for the new year. Amy Schumer arrived in a black and white gown to steal the show.

Versace... Versace... Lady Gaga never disappoints in the usual. This timeless black velvet dress is a prime piece and the design of the bodice is most captivating.

I was literally just telling myself how much I missed seeing Katy on the red carpet... then she shows up looking like a gorgeous vintage barbie and makes me remember why I am always eager to see what she has to offer. She made this blush shaded Prada dress come to life by creating a well thought out  picturesque look from head to toe.

Rarely red fails... Ask Lupita N'yongo whose look is still talked about after 2 years. Actress Jennifer Lawrence can add to the list as well in this immaculately designed frock by Dior that's tailored to perfection. The cut-out crop-like illusion generates a modern day flair but her way of styling it with the dramatic necklace develops a different aspect.

Can I be Kate Hudson already? She sparkled in nude drawing the attention of many.

Out of the many couples, this pair was the most fashion-forward in my opinion. Channing Tatum and wife Jenna who wore Zuhair Murad Couture are the epitome of majestic.

Striking another event in her books, this time in gold, the flawless Rosie Huntington-Whiteley shimmered across the carpet in this impeccably fitting dress.

Slaying at pre-parties wasn't the only thing on Zendaya's agenda. She came to the award show draped in a layered ruffle Marchesta design. The wine color of the garment complemented her so well and I'm also a fan of the embroidered print.

I guess decorative patterns was a trend. Jaimie Alexander with her rich emerald color deep v-neck gown was certainly divine.

I wish I could get tired of listing J Lo as a favorite when I'm reviewing every event she attends but I can't. I am lost of words to describe the confection she wore by Giambattista Valli... it looks like pure royalty.

Gracefully adorned in white, Laverne Cox, Maria Menounos and Taraji P. Henson are the three that I couldn't resist listing. Coincidentally, they all posed with stylish clutches to enhance their colourless but dreamy floor length pieces.

Those that appeared in color were Giuliana Rancic, Nancy O'dell and Angela Bassett. Despite the fact that its winter, they lit up the carpet in bold orange toned dresses that were each one-of-a-kind.

Not as many as I expected chose to wear black but these two did and made a statement.

Being able to count in men wear is always a plus when I am doing these reviews. Orlando Bloom impelled me to do so in this nice bespoke black tux styled with a pair of fashionable glossy loafers.

I'm not too sure what I'm most impressed about... Sam Smith weight loss or the fact that his dapper attire fits him like a glove.

You guys should know by now how much I love me a good navy suit. Actor Sam Heughan dressed sharply in the hue.

Bryshere Gray is truly becoming a star in our eyes.... fashionably. His exclusive formal wear wasn't a surprise and the shiny Christian Louboutin loafers on his feet goes along well with it.

Color is just fun to see! Comedian Kevin Hart is being named best dressed male for me. Nothing beats this suave olive green blazer he decided to rock with black and white.

After Parties
After the show, it's the after party.... If you just tried to rap that line in a Jay-Z voice, I love you.
Most importantly, the looks seen at both the In Style and Fox after parties are loved as well. Some Golden Globe attendee's changed to kill it a second time while those that didn't go to the actual award show used this moment to show off some of their best...

Its safe to say that last weekend was nothing short of stylish! The Golden Globes and other affairs both before and after were the places to be and celebrities absolutely brought their A game when it came to their consummate looks.
